At Belle Vale Community Primary, we follow the Read, Write Inc phonics scheme across KS1.
During sessions, children will develop the skills needed to segment and blend words to read and decode unfamiliar words. Children will practice skills relating to fluency, comprehension and writing.
A new sound is taught every three days and the children learn to recognise it, write it correctly and begin to read words containing it. The children work in small groups to develop and practice the skills they need. Please help your child to learn the new sounds.
Children will receive a reading book each week; this will be linked to what they have been reading that week. Please ensure books are returned so that they can be changed.
