Summer Term 2021
Staff: Mr. Price and Mr. Gallagher
Hello and welcome to Year 6! We are looking forward to getting back to all of our challenging and fun learning together in Year 6's final term at Belle Vale.
Below is all the information you will need for the Summer term, but our main focus remains: being your very best and achieving your potential; being proud of what you have accomplished every single day.
At Belle Vale, we have high expectations of the behaviour of all our pupils and we actively encourage them to have the same high expectations of themselves and each other.
We recognise behaviour as a form of communication and endeavour to support all of our children to enable them to reach their potential. However, we do expect our children to comply with the school rules to ensure that everyone is safe and happy inside school, and we will encourage and support children to do this.
Please see our 'Supporting Positive Behaviour and Social and Emotional Development' policy for further information.
In the event of any further necessary lockdown measures that are imposed, we will ensure our children have access to learning both online and via learning packs (which would go home with them at the time). All of our children have been issued with their logins to Seesaw - an online learning platform - which we update regularly for children to access at home. We can also comment on work and provide feedback and encouragement through this. The learning packs contain a range of activities to enable you child to access tasks linked to all areas of the school curriculum, including maths tasks, reading comprehensions, grammar games and additional creative activities too.
Should you require your child's Seesaw login details again, please contact me via email: email@example.com and I will ensure you get that straight away.
Please make sure your child is in school as often as possible throughout the year otherwise they will miss out on many exciting lessons. If your child is in school, and on time, every day, they can be supported to achieve their potential.
Our target for attendance is 97% for the school year, however if your child is in any way ill or showing any symptoms of COVID-19, then they be in school. You must inform the school immediately if your child or anyone in the household has COVID-19 symptoms or has tested positive.
Reading is a hugely important life skill which unlocks many different opportunities, and at Belle Vale we place a huge emphasis on encouraging and supporting all children to develop their reading and take pleasure from stories. We ask that all children are encouraged to read at home each night.
Reading books will be issued on Thursdays and taken home. They should be returned the following Tuesday when they will be quarantined before being changed and returned.
Please ensure that you encourage your child to read as frequently as possible at home, once a night for 10minutes will really help your child to reach their potential.
Homework is given out each week and is expected to be completed by the date given, which is usually the following Tuesday. This year we will be continuing to use Seesaw for some home learning activities. If your child is worrying about their homework or they are finding the task particularly tricky, then please speak to me as soon as possible so that any issue can be resolved.
Our P.E days are Monday and Wednesday. Children are expected to have their P.E kit in school on these days. P.E kits must consist of a white t-shirt, navy shorts and black pumps or trainers. However, children can come into school on this day in a Belle Vale tracksuit which is currently on sale. Please speak to the school office if this is something you would like your child to have.
Swimming lessons will take place each Monday throughout the duration of the Summer term for Years 5 and 6 beginning on Monday 19th April 2021.
Some members of Year 6 may have Top-Up swimming lessons in the final weeks of the Summer term - you will be notified closer to the time if that is applicable to your child- and children are encouraged to wear their Belle Vale tracksuit when attending school on their swimming day. This will enable children to change more efficiently and quickly so they will spend more time in the pool.
Children should bring a small bag with a change of underwear and a towel. If children wish to use deodorant, roll-on deodorants are fine, but not aerosol deodorants are not.
Swimming hats are compulsory for all children attending swimming.
Fruit is on sale every morning on the KS2 yard at 20p per item.
Mrs Loyden’s famous school dinners are priced at £2.00 per day, or £10.00 for a full week.
We are committed to ensuring high quality provision for all our children. Consequently, Mr Gallagher will be taking small groups of children- and may occasionally teach some whole class lessons whilst Mr Price delivers smaller, bespoke interventions for all groups of children. Together we are fully committed to driving our high expectations and supporting your children to be their best!
Thank you in advance to our parents for your continued support with our high expectations of behaviour and attitudes, and for taking the time to read this page.
