Welcome to Year 5!
- Mr Jones and Mrs Carlisle -
Hello Year 5 and welcome to our class page. We have made a wonderful start to Year 5 and we are delighted with the enthusiastic and positive attitudes towards our learning in the coming year.
P.E is on a Wednesday. All children are expected to have correct P.E kits in school, which must consist of a white t-shirt, navy shorts and black pumps.
Additionally, in Year 5, we have swimming sessions each Thursday. Children will require a swimming kit, towel and swimming caps (if your child has long hair). Goggles can be worn, however the children are encouraged to try to swim without these.
Although jewellery must not be worn in school, we understand some children may have small stud earrings in. Any earrings must be removed before the children enter the pool. If the child can’t remove their own earrings, they will be unable to swim that week because adults will not remove them for them.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and is due in every Tuesday unless otherwise stated.
Reading is a critical part of our learning, so it is important that all children read at home each night. We ask that their reading diaries are signed and returned to school the following day so that we can confirm that the children are reading outside of the classroom.
Dinner money/Snack money
Fruit is on sale every morning on the KS2 yard at 20p per item.
School dinners are priced at £2.00 per day, or £10.00 for a full week.
I would like to thank parents and carers in advance for your support and would like to remind you that if you have any concerns or worries, I am always available to speak to. Although should you require longer meetings I would kindly ask that we meet by appointment so that we don't take away from the children's learning time.
Remember to keep checking this page for updates and photographs of all the wonderful learning and exciting activities that will taking place in Year 5!
In our English lessons we have been reading Children of Winter. We have used this book as a focus for our writing and we have recently written a diary entry.
In Power Maths we are learning about addition and subtraction calculations and how we can use rounding and estimation to help us with our calculations.
We have recently started to study the Tudors and we are very excited to discover more about this period in history.
